Our regular activities on tower are:
- Mount swap: Prior to the swap, engineers conduct thorough assessments, considering factors such as load capacity, wind resistance, and overall structural integrity. Safety protocols are rigorously followed as the tower crew ascends to perform the swap, emphasizing the importance of secure harnessing and adherence to industry standards. The mount swap itself demands precision, with crews dismantling existing mounts and installing new ones to exact specifications.
- Antenna & Radio Swap: The process involves the careful replacement of existing antennas & radios with newer, more advanced models such as Octo & MIMO antennas, also AHFIG & AHLOA radios to improve signal strength, increase data capacity, and adapt to technological advancements. As engineers ascend the heights of the tower, safety protocols are paramount, ensuring a secure environment for the intricate task ahead. The actual swap demands a seamless orchestration of technical proficiency and teamwork.
- Trunk Cable Installation: This step consists of first removing the old hybrid cable, unclamping all the brackets of the tower to open space for the new hybrid cable that will be connected to the new antennas and radios.
Close out: Cable management, dressing, color codes and antenna alignments (Azimuths) are precisely calibrated, and system tests are conducted to validate the successful integration of the new technology. Photos are also being taken of the whole process to corroborate and demonstrate that the work is being done in a good and safe manner.
FIBER OPTICS INSTALLATION
Fiber optics installation is a complex and demanding field that requires expertise and precision. Elaborating a comprehensive game plan, once all possible variables are considered & evaluated assures quality project and success is always the first step. Identifying possible existing underground utilities such as gas, water, and electrical lines results main responsibility for Luminna’s F5 locators deployed in advanced. By precisely mapping out the underground landscape, utility locators provide valuable information for engineers and trenching crews, guiding them to avoid potential hazards and allowing for the strategic placement of fiber optic cables. Once the ground is ready and free of utilities, the directional drill (23×30 Drill) will come to action to start the trench. Also, if the terrain requires it, we will use the MX 125 Mixer that works with different components and water pressure to soften the terrain so that the drill works smoothly. After the trench is ready, we will do an action called pull back that consists of pulling out the drill and its extensions from one end very carefully and as we go out, we will introduce in the other end the flex conduits where the fiber optic cable will be, leaving everything ready to blow the fiber and make the handholes where the fiber splicing will be done.

CIVIL WORK

Our step-by-step planning for the civil work consists in:
- Game plan: We plan what we are going to do first, we usually start by removing the existing cabinets which will be swapped for HPL3 & LB3 where the cards with all the new technologies go. In other occasions we have no place to place the new cabinets and we start by making the concrete pad or platform where they will go, this requires to open the trench in the size and depth requested and then place the foundations and cement where the equipment will be installed.
- Trenching: This is a crucial step in laying the groundwork for infrastructure development. Engineers carefully plan the dimensions and depth of the trench, taking into account the specific requirements of the project. Whether it’s for laying conduits, run power & fibers, or establishing the base for structural footings, trenching serves as the initial canvas for construction endeavors.
- Equipments Installation: Such as COVP, PPC, junction box, 200 Amp Breaker or Ice bridge, each of these are installed on the concrete pad or platform correctly and securely so that the new technologies can run smoothly.
